Himalaya: Support for the school in Hill

The idea for the Himalaya project was born out of a sense of solidarity and the desire to make a positive contribution to the community. After discussions on site, we learned that the local schools urgently needed educational materials and decided to make a contribution. Through fundraising activities in the run-up to the event, we were able to raise an impressive $4,000 to provide the children at the schools with basic learning materials for the next 1-2 years.

When we arrived in Kathmandu, we went shopping together with our Sherpa Ang Gombu to get additional materials for the children and also toys. These additional gifts should not only enrich the educational sector, but also the children’s everyday lives. We then personally brought these materials and toys to Hill by helicopter.

The remote locations made it clear that these communities urgently needed help. The encounters with the students and teachers were warm and grateful. At the same time, we realized how important our support is for their education and to give them a chance for a future.

The personal handover of the school materials and toys was a moving moment. The children were beaming with joy when they received their new exercise books, pencils and crayons. The additional gifts not only brought joy to their faces, but also a playful lightness to their everyday lives.

Our commitment went even further. In addition to supplying the first school, we were also able to provide a second school in the region with toys and other materials. This expansion of our project was made possible by the generous support of people who believe in our mission.

Renovation work on the playground at the first school will start shortly to provide the children at both schools with a better environment for learning and playing.

Our Himalayan project was not only an expedition into the majestic mountains, but also a journey of humanity and commitment. The beaming faces of the children, the joy of the teachers and the gratitude of the community have shown us that education can have a lasting impact. We are proud to make a small contribution that improves the lives of these children in the remote heights of the Himalayas and brightens their future.
