Himalayan photo tour Nepal 2026 – Why this trip is unique

For many adventurers, the Everest Base Camp Trek is the ultimate destination in the Himalayas. Breathtaking landscapes, mighty mountains and the special culture of the Sherpas attract thousands to Nepal every year. But as impressive as the classic route is, it often remains touristy.

Our Himalayan photo tour Nepal 2026 in March is different. It offers not only the beauty of the Himalayas, but also a rare insight into real life off the beaten track.

πŸ“… Date: March 2026
πŸ“ Route: Kathmandu – Hill – Gokyo Lakes – Chola Pass – Everest Base Camp

A special start: the Sherpa village of Hill

Instead of starting in Lukla, our journey begins with a helicopter flight to the remote village of Hill, the home of my friend and guide Aang Gombu Sherpa. This village is not accessible by chance – you have to be invited.

Here we spend a night in the middle of the village community, visit the school that we have been supporting since 2023 and take part in a traditional Sherpa dance ceremony. An experience that you won’t find on any standard route – and which becomes an emotional highlight for many guests.

More than Everest Base Camp – Gokyo Lakes & Chola Pass

Of course, the trail also takes us to Everest Base Camp. But before we get there, we hike through the quiet, impressive Gokyo Valley, marvel at the turquoise-colored Gokyo Lakes and climb to the summit of Gokyo Ri (5,360 m) – with one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the eight-thousand-metre peaks of the Himalayas.

Over the Chola Pass (5,420 m), the route becomes more challenging and varied before we finally reach Everest Base Camp – on a path that is much quieter and more varied than the classic trekking route.

Photography & adventure – suitable for everyone

You don’t have to be a photographer to take part in this tour. If you are a photographer, our photo workshops will give you the chance to get the best out of every moment: sunrises over Everest, reflections in the high mountain lakes, encounters with people along the way.

And those who don’t take photos experience this journey with the same open eyes and hearts – just without a camera.

Guided by friendship & trust

This expedition is not an anonymous group trip. It is personal. It is led by Aang Gombu, who was born in Hill, and myself as expedition photographer & guide. Together we will make sure you feel safe, welcome and connected – with the people, the culture and the nature.

An adventure that gives back

Our trips are not just about collecting impressions, but also about making a difference. With our school project in Hill, we support education in remote regions of the Himalayas. By taking part, you too will become part of this project.
